Canadian police recently arrested and charged two teens for throwing a rock at a passing truck.
At 9 p.m. on March 30, police responded to a call about rocks being thrown at vehicles near Mattagami River Bridge in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario.
OPP North East Region reports that a thrown rock shattered the window of a CMV traveling on Highway 11.
Police were able to identify two fourteen year olds as the rock-throwing suspects.
The teens were arrested and charged with mischief.
“What may seem like a harmless prank can quickly escalate into a life-threatening situation, not just for the drivers and passengers but also for the perpetrators themselves,” OPP warned.
What to do if your truck was vandalized?
1.Stay Calm and Assess the Situation
If you notice someone attempting to vandalize your truck, the first step is to remain calm. Panicking can worsen the situation. Assess what's happening from a safe distance if possible, without confronting the vandal directly, as this could escalate into a dangerous situation.

If it's safe to do so, take photos or videos of the vandalism in progress and any damage done to your truck. This documentation will be crucial for police reports and insurance claims. Make sure to capture details such as the time, location, and any distinguishing features of the perpetrator(s).
4.Do Not Engage
Avoid confronting the vandal(s). Confrontation can lead to violence or retaliation. Your priority should be your own safety and that of those around you. By staying at a safe distance and being a good witness, you're contributing significantly to resolving the situation effectively.
5.Inform Your Employer and Insurance Company
Once you're in a safe place and law enforcement has been notified, inform your employer about the incident. They may have protocols in place for handling such situations. Additionally, contact your insurance company to report the vandalism and inquire about the next steps for filing a claim. Ensure you follow their instructions closely to facilitate the claims process.
