Heavy haulers move historic train station house

A heavy haul team successfully moved a massive historic train station house to a new location in Hope, B.C.

On Thursday, February 15th, the trucking team from Nickel Bros., headquartered in B.C., successfully relocated the Hope Station House. The historic building was transported on a brief journey through the town of Hope to its new destination at 919 Water Avenue in the downtown area. It will now serve as a central hub for tourism and community activities.

The Vancouver Sun reports that the station house is 2,567 square feet.

The Hope Station House was built in 1916 by the Great Northern Railway and was connected to the internment of Japanese Canadians during World War II.

It was scheduled for demolition in 2021 but was saved by the Tashme Historical Society (THS), who helped organize the building move with help from Nickel Bros.
