A Brinks truck driver had his pants stolen during a robbery of his truck in Texas late last week.
Theft occurred on March 1st in Irving, Texas at about 9:45 a.m. in the parking lot of a Chase bank on 2904 N. Beltline Road.
According to NBC DFW, the Brinks truck driver had just collected money from a drive-up Chase ATM when the thief approached him. The thief then forced the Brinks truck driver onto the ground and forcibly removed his pants before taking off with a large sum of money.
“When I was leaving the bank, I saw these two guys on the ground,” said witness Eden Soto Alva. “I didn’t think much of it but when I saw the gun I thought: Oh man, this is something.”
Witnesses were able to capture some of the incident on cell phone video, but police say calling 911 would have likely been more helpful.
“The video will eventually probably be helpful to us, but we ask that you call 911 because that could have been the difference for us being able to respond and apprehend the suspect,” said Irving PD spokeswoman Delaney Brey.
“Yes, it is brazen. Yes, it is shocking,” Brey continued. “This is not something that happens in Irving.”
By the time officers arrived, the suspect had fled the scene and the Brinks driver had ran to a nearby gas station for help. Police say the thief likely removed the driver’s pants to keep him from running for help, reported Fox 4.
Police believe that the suspect traveled to Irving from Dallas, and had followed the Brinks driver from another location before going through with the robbery. The stop was described as a typically “very quiet route” by the Brinks truck driver. It is unclear why the Brinks driver was working without a partner at the time of the robbery.
The suspect has been described as a white or hispanic male with short, dark hair, a black hat, mirrored sunglasses, and bandana over his face, a gray hoodie, light colored joggers, and blue and white Nike sneakers. He is facing aggravated robbery charges.
